BB5: Using Online Exercises & Feedback
Research indicates that students in both face-to-face and distance learning classes enjoy greater satisfaction and perform at a higher level when given individual feedback. One way to accomplish this is through the use of graded, online interactive exercises that each student can do repeatedly, with the latest grade being recorded. The key to success in this is to provide interesting questions with graphics and concise feedback for incorrect responses, indicating what areas of the course materials should be reviewed to be able to respond correctly. This course shows you how to do this within Blackboard and to have the results recorded automatically in your GradeCenter. As an added benefit, the use of this technique makes it possible for you to rapidly identify students who are beginning to fall behind, even as early as two weeks into DePaul’s ten-week term, providing the starting point for improved focus on retention efforts.
In preparation for this training, you should have taken BB1: Blackboard Basics and BB2: Grade Center Part 1 or you need equivalent experience.
Technology workshops are designed primarily for faculty. Staff are welcome to register if they have teaching assignments or if they are directly involved in assisting faculty in teaching and research. However priority is given to faculty if registration exceeds the cap. If registration is full, please sign up for the wait list for current or future sessions.
