Streaming Media ServerThe Real Streaming Media Server provides DePaul faculty with the ability to incorporate audio and video clips into their Blackboard courses. It reinforces the effectiveness of teaching by enriching classroom-based learning with real-world interactive multi-media experiences. Streaming Media increases student time-on-task by focusing pre-class preparation, thus resulting in a more in-depth class discussion. Students can hear real-life guest speakers, compare or contrast video, as well as review course materials multiple times all at their own convenience. Request an AccountFaculty must request an account on the Streaming Media Server (SMS). The SMS acts as a storage place for course related audio and video clips. Faculty can link to media stored on this server via their DePaul Blackboard Course. Faculty can request an account by filling in and submitting the Streaming Media Request form. Using Streaming MediaWithin 3 working days of submitting the account request form to MPT, the faculty member will be contacted by both their IDD Consultant, who will offer guidance on how to best use the MPT services and the streaming media server administrator who will provide them with their username and password. The faculty member will then be able to upload media files using a simple FTP interface. For instructions on how to FTP, see Using SSH.(SSH is the university-wide used application for secure file transfer to/from the DePaul servers) DocumentationManaging your Condor Account [PDF, 4 pages, 334k] Capturing, editing, and compressing audio for streaming [PDF, 5 pages, 305k]
