Annotations

Online Peer Review and Discussion

Annotations enables faculty and students to review and comment upon a specific piece of written work or some other digital artifact. The instructor submits student (or other) work to the Annotations web environment. Students or collegues red the work and comment on a paragraph by paragraph basis. Comments are open to review by others; a two-column printable view provides original text on the left and all comments on the right-hand column.

Two Teaching Scenarios

Writing: Each week the instructor posts a draft to Annotations for peer review. Students link to Annotations from the class Blackboard site. Students comment on each paragraph of the draft, supporting strong arguments and pointing out missing information, or areas that can be strengthened or expanded upon.
Reflection: Links to video or audio of students in the field are posted to Annotations. Peers review the material making suggestions based on their own experiences. How might the lesson be presented differently? What classroom management techniques might be applied to the child acting up in this example?
