INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN TIPS: Group Work

Assess Group Progress

Formative Assessments
Instructors obtain a snapshot of where students are in the process of learning specific information or in performing a specific task and then intervene, if necessary, to provide new data, research suggestions, or other guidance.

Summaries submitted to an open discussion group. Each week, a member of each group provides a summary of work performed, tasks distributed, and products created by the group.
  • Surveys created by the instructor, using Blackboard's Assessment feature, can gauge the group's current knowledge of resources and processes.
  • Surveys, because they are anonymous, provide a 'safe' place for frank and honest input.
