INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN TIPS: Assessments

Blackboard’s survey tool vs. DePaul’s Quickdata survey tool: When and why each tool should be used?

Although, Blackboards’s survey tool provides some quantitative statistics such as mean, standard deviation, etc. it does not allow exporting of survey data into a data file such as a comma delimited file (*.csv) that can be imported into various quantitative analysis tools such as SPSS, MS Excel, etc.. Thus, for surveys in which the survey data may need to be imported into a quantitative analysis tool, Quickdata should be used. Quickdata is a web based tool developed and supported by ITD that facilitates building an online, or web based survey tool that creates a data file that can be exported into a quantitative analysis tool and create basic online reports. Feel free to check out more information on Quickdata on ITD’s website.
