About ITD
Department Overview
Instructional Technology Development (ITD) assists faculty and students in using technology to enhance teaching and learning, whether in the traditional classroom or in the online environment, by offering one-on-one and group training programs, consulting services, instructional tools, online resources, lab facilities.
Services for Faculty
ITD offers workshops that provide faculty with training and hands-on time for specific applications and learning strategies. These programs include beginner to advanced Blackboard training, crash courses on MS applications, Web course development seminars, and graphic design and multimedia development workshops. ITD presents an introduction to instructional technology seminar for new faculty members and sponsors an Annual Conference dedicated to a specific topic related to teaching and technology. Send your suggestions on topics to us using our Feedback form.
Faculty can supplement classroom activities with a variety of instructional tools offered by ITD:
Turn It In provides online services for faculty to identify possible plagiarized text;
Annotations permits faculty and students to exchange documents, graphics, drawings or even a short piece of music in a common online space;
QuickData Creates both the online form and the database back-end for surveys and statistical analysis;
Respondus offers a quick solution to generate ready-to use quizzes for Blackboard.
To complement training activities and services, the ITD web site includes extensive support documents and references for each of the services. Faculty will find quick guides, request forms, course design tips and other teaching support materials.
ITD maintains special computing facilities reserved for faculty members to experiment with instructional technologies including streaming-media capture stations, digital scanners, and many advanced software applications. Click here for lab locations and schedules.
Services for Students
ITD offers full- and part-time students training programs on Blackboard and other technology tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. ITD also collaborates with the libraries to address student need for technology and library resources. Check here for recent student training events.
