Chicago Wilderness Research Agenda Survey

Instructions

Please use this form to submit ideas, suggestions and comments regarding the Chicago Wilderness Research Agenda. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress and -- your suggestions will be carefully reviewed by the editors and incorporated into the document.

This form is organized in the same format as the research agenda.

As you think of an research idea that you would like reflected in the agenda indicate the level of organization that it corresponds to (population, ecosystem etc.) and the conceptual domain (major research area within that level) that seems most appropriate to you idea (if an appropriate domain does not exist suggest a name for a new one).

If your suggestion is a call for basic information in an area use that box. If you can develop your question into a testable statement or hypothesis that will be useful to us.

Populations

Please answer the following questions concerning research needs of populations. Currently the Conceptual Domains for Populations are: "The Importance of Genetic Diversity for Maintaining Populations"; "Ecology and Control of Invasive/Exotic Species"; "Population Response to Management"; "The Natural History of Some Key Species in Chicago Wilderness"; "Inventorying Understudied Organismal Groups"; "Non-target Impacts of Management".
5. CONCEPTUAL DOMAIN (Where possible, use a currently identified domain; if an adequate one does not exist, please suggest an alternative)
6. BASIC INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS (These are basic research needs not necessarily amendable to traditional hypothesis testing ie. species inventories, population counts, regional soil maps, etc.)
7. RESEARCH QUESTIONS (These are the important questions for the conceptual domain identified above that are not currently addressed by the current research agenda)
8. HYPOTHESES (Where possible, please develop testable hypotheses for each research question)

Communities

Please answer the following questions concerning research needs of communities. Currently, the Conceptual Domains for Communities are: "Community responses to Restoration"; "Conservation and Management Priorities"; "Habitat Characteristics of Communities of Conservation Concern"; "Ecological Health of Remnant Oak Woodland"; "The Relationship Between Restoration Management and Pre-Settlement Vegetation"; "Restoration Ecology as the Acid Test of Ecological Theory".
